WPW ROPE BREAK RESULTS
Published
ROPE BREAK was an incredible night full of surprises and returns as we head into RUMBLE IN THE BURT
Cheeks and Chizzled Chad kicked off the night with the opportunity to enter the Rumble match last on the line. After an intense back and forth for over 10 minutes, Chad used his patented chisel to knock Cheeks out and get the win. Cheeks will now have to enter the RUMBLE IN THE BURT match first, and Daniels will enter last
WPW GM James Korba unleashed his hired guns Danny Duggan and ATM on the debuting tag team of Matt Honey and B Brian Singh, the Bee Sharps. Honey managed to get some offense in after an early barrage from Duggan and Moore, but they were too much to overcome. After the match GM Korba told the sold out crowd that his team of Duggan and ATM would take on Schink and Sanchez at the Burt, if those two can even get on the same page!
Badger Briggs and ‘The Priestess’ Lee faced off in a hard hitting match-up, highlighted by a barrage of stiff chops back and forth. In the end Briggs picked up the win in their WPW debut.
Lince Dorado and Diablo Azteca had fans on their feet the entire time. Lince Dorado defeated Azteca after an incredible shooting star press. Fans gave both men a standing ovation and it was clear that Winnipeg loves Lucha Libre.
Sammy Peppers was eager to get his hands on Bryce Bentley, but knew that the numbers were in his favor. Peppers had enlisted Mo Jabari in August and last night we saw the return of DEVON MONROE! It was a chaotic 6 man tag team match and in the end Monroe pinned Ripley III of the Prosperity Gospel. Sammy Peppers wasn’t able to exact revenge on Bryce Bentley, so after the match he challenged Bentley to a match at the Burt!
Bobby Schink made quick work of the ‘Mastermind’ Kevin Cannon, and was pounced by WPW GM James Korba, Danny Duggan and ATM. Just before they could inflict more damage we heard the familiar theme of the legendary VINKO, who stood on the stage waving in ‘The Big Punisher’ AJ Sanchez. Sanchez cleaned house, dropping ATM and Duggan easily. Big Pun offered his hand to Schink as a sign of trust, and all 350 fans were screaming for Schink to accept Sanchez’s help in their battle against GM Korba, but Schink walked away.
Ronnie Attitude entered with his typical negative disposition and took to blaming the referees, and specifically official Merv, for his losing streak. Attitude had made the challenge to another perennial loser, Napaloney Diabell. Diabell shocked the crowd as made Ronnie his first sacrifice. After the match, Attitude attacked Diabell and turned his sights on referee Merv. Merv wasn’t going to be taken victim and fought back briefly before being viciously beaten down.
Ava Lawless and Tara Zep went one-on-one for a shot at the vacant WPW Women’s Championship at RUMBLE IN THE BURT. Fans have seen a new side of Lawless, which was embracing a more ruthless style, and it came out even more last night. There were several points where Zep was about to come out ahead but Lawless wasn’t afraid to cut corners and bend rules to punch her ticket to the Burt.
WPW Champion Tyler Colton entered the ring at the end of the night to find out his championship challenger. James Roth had posted photos earlier in the day of his vacation in Banff, updating fans as he had been doing every day during his absence. A video played with Roth sitting lakeside reflecting on his injury and time with his family, when all the sudden he emerged from the back and took out the Canadian Hercules!
The match was set, The Real Deal vs The Canadian Hercules for the WPW Championship at RUMBLE IN THE BURT
